Corrosion can be controlled by some ways; one of them is using corrosion inhibitor. N,N-dibenzoylhydroxyamide is one of organic compounds which can be used as corrosion inhibitor. This compound was synthesized from the reaction between propanaloxime and benzoyl chloride using MAOS (Microwave Assisted Organic Synthesis) method. The product was analyzed using TLC (n-hexane : ethyl acetate = 7 : 3 as eluent) which showed that the product is more polar than its precursors. The product has melting point of 120-122oC. The FTIR spectrum showed an absorption bond characteristic of carbonyl group at 1687.71 cm-1 and C-N bond at 1292.31 cm-1. Mass spectroscopy spectra utilizing HRMS TOF ES+ [M+H]+ showed molecular mass of 242.0798. The observed molecular mass equals the molecular mass of C14H11NO3. 1H – NMR spectrum showed benzene monosubtituted signal at chemical shift of 7-8 ppm and carbonyl group at chemical shift of 167 ppm in 13C –NMR spectrum. The ability of N,N-dibenzoylhydroxyamide as corrosion inhibitor was tested on carbon steel using EIS and Tafel method in buffer acetate solution. The maximum corrosion inhibition efficiency was obtained at 30oC; pH 4.4; and the concentration of 40 ppm, which is 82.41 %. The calculated activation energy of uninhibited system is 58.53 kJ/mol and after inhibitor added the activation energy increased up to 96.36 kJ/mol. The ?Gads value of the synthesized product is -41.08 kJ/mol described the adsorption mechanism of the inhibitor on carbon steel occurred chemically. text
