Description
Summary:Methods for analizing rare earth materials (REM’s) using electrochemical sensors has been developed recently. Electrochemical sensors that widely used is ion selective electrode (ISE) because it has selectivity, sensitivity, reliability, and relatively high accuracy and low detection limits. The objective of this study is to make ion selective electrode Gd3+ with supported liquid membrane. The reference electrode used was Ag / AgCl. Working electrode type that recently developed was a tube with inner solution system and supported liquid membrane. The composition of the membrane used is a porous polymer membrane PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) as the supporting membrane immersed in solution H2SbBP (1- phenyl-3-methyl-5-pirazolon) with chloroform. The optimization results from measurement of ion Gd (III) is the Nernst factor of 19.07 mV / decade concentration, range concentration 1.0 x 10-2 - 1.0 x 10-6 M and R 0.9677 at pH 4.2.The supported liquid membrane was characterized with a diffuse reflectance infrared fourier transform spectroscopy and scanning electron microscope (SEM) to see H2SbBP been adsorbed on the PTFE membrane
