INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/35208 The commonly-used sweetener nowadays is sugar cane or sucrose. However, the use of this sweetener is not recommended for some patients who have some diseases, such as diabetes and obesity. One of the natural sweetener that can solve this problem currently comes from the stevia plant. Stevia is known containing glucosidated diterpen compounds which has several advantages including zero calories and the sweetness degree up to 50-300 times of sucrose. Types of glucosidated diterpen compounds commonly found on stevia leaves are stevioside, rebaudioside, and dulcoside. The purpose of this study is to isolate one of glucosidated diterpen compounds contained in the stevia leaves. From 1 kg stevia powder is produced 175 g extract pasta and then 20 g taken to separation. Separation technique of glucosidated diterpen fraction is performed in some stage through the KVC and sephadex techniques, while the purification techniques performed by using normal phase column chromatogaphy with silica gel G60 as the stationary phase. Eluent used in the KVC are hexane, etil asetat and metanol with increasing polarity. The crystal has melting point 198-204oC as result. The purified compounds obtained as much as 17 mg. This compound is a type of terpenoids based on the results of TLC with etil asetat: metanol = 97:3 eluent. text |
