The objective of this research was to prepare a selective membrane to separate starch and maltose. The method used in this synthesis of this membranes is the method of blend of poly(methylmethacrylate) (PMMA) and silica fume and a mixture of N,N- dimethylformamide (DMF). Various characterizations of the resulting membranes were conducted, including permeability (measured as flux), permselectivity (measured as rejection coefficient membrane for starch and maltose) ,analysis of membrane surface properties by contact angle, observation of membrane morphology by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and analysis of functional group by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrophotometer (FTIR). Experiments showed that the best membrane performance obtained for membranes PMMA:DMF = 25:75 (%w/w) and the ratio of poly (methylmethacrylate) and silica fume is 15:1 with the treatment of coagulation casting solution in cold water and annealing. The optimum percentage rejection membrane of starch is 77% and the percentage rejection membrane of maltose is 0%, at a pressure of 2,6 atm. text
