DETERMINATION OF LEAD IN SOIL SAMPLES BY DIFFERENTIAL PULSE STRIPPING VOLTAMMETRY USING LIGNIN MODIFIED ELECTRODE
Lead is one of heavy metals that can enter living organism through food chain. In soil, concentration of lead is very low so highly sensitive methods are required to analyze lead in soil. Voltammetry is one of the method. In this study, lignin modified carbon pate electrode was developed for the a...

In soil, concentration of lead is very low so highly sensitive methods are required to analyze lead in soil. Voltammetry is one of the method. In this study, lignin modified carbon pate electrode was developed for the analysis of the lead in soil. The lignin modified electrode was characterized in term of its optimum composition, linearity, repeatability, and accuracy of the analysis. Optimum composition of lignin in the electrode was 5% (w/w). Standard deviation of repeated measurement was 3,3% showing a very good measurement precision. The calibration curve was linear between 10 ppb – 10 ppm with limit of detection (3?) of 5,6 ppb. Percent recovery of spike samples analysis was between 95 – 97% showing good accuracy the analysis. Results of lead analysis in soil using the electrode showed a good agreement with that obtained with atomic absorption spectrophotometry method. text |
