Summary:Suspension bridge is one of modern bridge that has been growing rapidly. This type of bridge enables to answer the need of long and deep span bridge. One of the most important structural elements of suspension bridge is hanger. Hangers and main cables are designed with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specification 2010 and RSNI T-02-2005 Standar Pembebanan Untuk Jembatan (Indonesian Standard of Load For Bridge). As a structural component, the reliability of hanger when holding dead loads and traffic loads should be concerned. Other problems that likely to happen is the dynamic behaviour of bridge against wind (flutter dan vortex shedding). According to the modelling of both bridges, hangers are highly reliable when holding dead loads and traffic loads. Even when there is a failure of one hanger, others are still highly reliable to hold dead loads and traffic loads. Besides, according to average wind speed for 100 years period and critical wind speed, both bridges are safe flutter and vortex shedding phenomenon.
