Description
Summary:Biodiesel is an alternative energy source to reduce the use of non-renewable fossil fuel. Microalgae can be considered to be a good simple plant to produce biodiesel due to its high lipid content and easy process. Enhancing biomass, oil productivity, and utilization inexpensive nutrient of microalgal Nannochloropsis sp. culture are investigated. Nannochloropsis sp. is cultivated in simple new media containing urea as nitrogen source at various concentration of 17.6–282.3 mg L-1. The slowest microalgae growth was observed in the culture containing low urea concentration. However, the lower urea concentration in the medium, the higher microalgal oil content. The value of oil productivity of Nannochloropsis sp. obtained from the culture containing 35,3 mg L-1 urea was 10,3 mg L-1 day-1. The GCMS result of Nannochloropsis sp. oils was dominated by oleic acid.
