ANALISIS FORMALDEHIDA DI UDARA AMBIEN PADA DAERAH PERKOTAAN PADAT LALU LINTAS
Formaldehyde is a carcinogenic pollutant found in the atmosphere and play an important role in atmospheric chemistry. There are several sources of formaldehyde in the atmosphere. One of the main pathways is by photochemical processes from the oxidation of biogenic and anthropogenic hydrocarbons. For...

There are several sources of formaldehyde in the atmosphere. One of the main pathways is by photochemical processes from the oxidation of biogenic and anthropogenic hydrocarbons. Formaldehyde is also known as the primary pollutant produced from incomplete hydrocarbons combustions. Formaldehyde is measured by colorimetric active method and analyzed by spectrofotometrice methods. Active sampling methods works through collecting samples of formaldehyde in the air by bubbling air into an impinger containing absorbing solution of distilled water. This study aimed to find formaldehyde to oxidant ratio in Jakarta as a city with high transportation emission. Sampling was done at Bunderan Hotel Indonesia, Jl. M.H. Thamrin and its relationship to meteorological factors were investegated. Two hourly sampling was carried out to obtain diurnal pattern of formaldehyde concentration from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.. The results show a parabolic pattern with peak occurred between 10:00 a.m to 02.00 p.m. On average the ratio of formaldehyde to oxidant was 20.39%. A strong linear correlation was found between formaldehyde and oxidant with the Pearson correlation value of 0.770 (p = 0). Formaldehyde concentration was found to be closely related to global radiation with R = 0.731 (p = 0.0) while the correlation with air humidity was R = -0.574 (p = 0.002). Oxidant concentration was also closely linked to global radiation intensity with R = 0.699 (p = 0.0) and air humidity of R = -0.474(p = 0.014). text |
