In such an environment a manufacturing strategy is needed that can respond quickly to customer demand and technology group (GT) can achieve this goal by focusing on cellular manufacturing (CM). In designing cellular manufacturing systems (CMS), a robust manufacturing system design is needed to handle changes in product demand without interfering with the production process. This study aims to develop a robust cellular manufacturing system (RCMS) model by considering machine capacity, cell size, alternative routing, sequence of operations, processing time, and lot splitting. The purpose of this model is to minimize total engine costs, operating costs, production costs for parts operations, intercellular material handling costs, intracellular material handling costs and subcontracting costs. Model testing in cell formation uses the branch and bound method using Lingo 17.0 software. The test results show that the proposed RCMS model provides a better solution than the RCMS model without considering lot splitting. It can be concluded that the RCMS model by considering lot splitting factor can improve the utilization of the engine and workload evenly so that it can provide better cost solutions compared to the RCMS model without considering lot splitting. In addition, the proposed RCMS model also provides flexibility in production to satisfy demand through internal production and through subcontracting. text |

The manufacturing system must be able to deliver products to consumers on time and respond quickly to changes in product design and product demand with low production costs and good quality.
