Description
Summary:Biodegradable Plastic is plastic that degraded by microorganisms into simple compounds such as water, CO2, and CH4. Plastic Ecoplas consist of a mixture of polyethylene and tapioca. Oxium plastic is degradable plastics with additives to accelerate degradation. Both Ecoplas and Oxium is used in the test sample of biodegradability. Based on the test method ASTM D5511 and D5526, biodegradability rate can be measured through the production of CO2 and CH4 under anaerobic conditions. Inoculum used was from WWTP Bojongsoang’s sludge and soil from Sarimukti landfill. The percentage biodegradation is calculated from the difference between the mean weight of the plastic at the beginning and at the end of the test. Plastic Oxium be degraded by 28.35% in the soil burrow, as much as 3,57% in the medium biometer anaerobic sludge WWTP and 2.87% biometer anaerobic landfill cover soil. While plastics Ecoplas can be degraded up to 33.23% in the barrow, as much as 19,927% in the anaerobic sludge WWTP biometer media and 21,21% biometer anaerobic landfill cover soil. From the statistical test-T, plastic Ecoplas have a greater and different rate of biodegradation than plastic Oxium with t (18) = 4.950 p = 0.00041 ? = 0.05 level. The results of the identification of bacterial isolates taken from soil burial, sludge wastewater treatment, and landfill soil cover derived from species of Corynebacterium sp., Pseudomonas Alcaligenes, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens, Neisseria mucosa, Pseudomonas stutzeri, and Bacillus firmus. From the growth curve we conclude each species has a generation time of growth, respectively 94, 9, 12, 71, 55 and 60 minutes.
