This thesis discusses (ST) using a case study at Cikole forest reserve as tourism destination based on three key concepts: to explore to what extent the development of sustainable tourism at Cikole-protected forest reserve is implemented, to examine the impacts of tourism practices at Cikole protected forest reserve based on the three pillars of sustainability, and to evaluate how sustainable tourism benefits directly local people from tourism business practices at Cikole protected forest reserve where those key three concepts form the research forms problems and addressing gap of this thesis. A qualitative descriptive research strategy was adopted which utilized a multi-case study approaches in order to gain a rich understanding of the context of the research and employed a triangulated strategy and used both primary and secondary data collection methods. Data were analyzed by using qualitative coding such as descriptive coding, topic coding and analytical coding and thematic analysis to the key ground concepts of this research project. The findings of this research found that, sustainable tourism development at Cikole protected forest reserve has greatly successful to add positive image to its development in sustainable ways and Conservation of natural areas without destroying the main function of forest as a source of livelihood, natural disaster prevention, and its surrounding environment of the community. However, the research found some indications of unsustainable tourism development based on three pillars of sustainability notably to the environment and economic aspects within the tourism sites and community surrounding at large. The thesis concluded that, respective tourism stakeholders at Cikole forest reserve like planners, government institutions, private sectors, and local community are important in the tourism development through decision-making process and their involvement in the sustainable tourism development through closely integration system between them for sustainable tourism development in the present and future generation. text |
