In 2017, Indonesian government set the national coal production target 477,91 Million Ton, with the actual achievement around 461 Million Ton or 96% from the target. In the coal industry competition, the yearly increment of coal production will reduce the national coal reserve. The coal mining company who hold the concession area will slightly increase their coal production to achieve the economical limit of coal market, but in the same way this step will accelerate the mine lifetime. In the coal price fall period, coal mining company tend to optimize the coal production and sale them with market price (which is lower), but in the same time choose the area with the least overburden, which this method will affect the mining schedule and decrease the total company coal reserves. At the end of 2017, PT Indoraya Coal, Tbk cannot achieve the annual coal production target. This condition bring the company lost the opportunity at the right time situation due to the high increment of the world coal price adjustment, and make the company cannot reach the chance to get more revenue and profit, and also at the other time give the opportunity of losing revenue. According to the annual report in 2017 of the company, the main reason of this situation is majorly by the high rainfall volume and also the low performance of the working partner in which usually call as the core coal mining contractor at each of mining site operation location. PT Indoraya Coal, Tbk should find the detail root cause of the 2017 coal production cannot achieve as the target set. This root cause should be evaluated and use as the additional information to improve and also to make new initiative in achieving coal production. text |
