STUDY OF DKI JAKARTA FLOOD CONTROL BY DISTRIBUTING RUNOFF FROM CILIWUNG RIVER TO EAST FLOOD CHANNEL

Jakarta floods will continue to occur annually if heavy rainfall occurs. There are 6 basins that contribute floods in Jakarta region, namely Ciliwung, Angke- Pasanggrahan, Krukur-Grogol, Sunter, Cakung, and Buaran. Ciliwung Basin is one that is often disputed as the cause of flooding in Jakarta....

There are 6 basins that contribute floods in Jakarta region, namely Ciliwung, Angke- Pasanggrahan, Krukur-Grogol, Sunter, Cakung, and Buaran. Ciliwung Basin is one that is often disputed as the cause of flooding in Jakarta. Downstream flow of the river is connected with West Flood Channel. There is a condition in which the West Flood Channel is peak-discharged when heavy rainfall occurs in west of Jakarta. Floods resulted in hampered social and economic activities in Jakarta, which impact the loss of material directly or indirectly. This led to a total breakdown of traffic in some areas of Jakarta and also inundation of settlements and offices. Therefore, it is necessary to have Jakarta flood prevention studies that aim to minimize inundation due to overflowing Ciliwung River. The study used hydrology and hydraulics analysis method. The analysis used the 25 annual flood discharge. The flood will be distributed to East Flood Channel. The analysis showed that the East Flood Channel is able to accommodate 272,84 m3/s discharge from Ciliwung River. The distribution channel is designed with trapezoidal-shaped cross section. text
