In the current technological developments, especially in the earthquake studies, there are many ways that can be used to minimize even to negate the effects of the earthquake in response of the building, so the building can still function properly. One of the technological seismic developments is using base isolation system, which consists of lead rubber bearing, high damping rubber bearing, and others. The working principle of base isolation itself by increasing the period of the structure so that the effects of the earthquake were absorbed by buildings that shrink and this system increases the damping in the structure. In addition to the benefits, base isolation requires considerable cost and maintenance should be done regularly. Nowadays, a lot of base isolation systems are used primarily in rigid building and has a small period so that it becomes an effective system to use. The main focus of this thesis is to determine the reliability of base isolation system in 15-story building. It can be done by comparing the laboratory results with the results of the analysis of modeling structure in SAP2000. Base isolation resistance is said to be reliable if resistance > load which means base isolation able to withstand loads that occur espicially earthquake loads that are modeled in time history analysis. In addition, the analysis was also performed to compare the response of structures using base isolation with a building structure without using base isolation system and also to see the energy dissipation from the base isolation building system. The reference that is used as the basis for this plan is RSNI- 1726-201x (the Indonesian building code) which is similar with FEMA 450, includes planning base isolation as well. text |

Earthquake-resistant structures are needed especially in areas that are located near
fault tectonic plates. In the current technological developments, especially in the
earthquake studies, there are many ways that can be used to minimize even to
negate the effects of the earthquake in response of the building, so the building
can still function properly. One of the technological seismic developments is
using base isolation system, which consists of lead rubber bearing, high damping
rubber bearing, and others. The working principle of base isolation itself by
increasing the period of the structure so that the effects of the earthquake were
absorbed by buildings that shrink and this system increases the damping in the
structure. In addition to the benefits, base isolation requires considerable cost and
maintenance should be done regularly. Nowadays, a lot of base isolation systems
are used primarily in rigid building and has a small period so that it becomes an
effective system to use.
The main focus of this thesis is to determine the reliability of base isolation
system in 15-story building. It can be done by comparing the laboratory results
with the results of the analysis of modeling structure in SAP2000. Base isolation
resistance is said to be reliable if resistance > load which means base isolation
able to withstand loads that occur espicially earthquake loads that are modeled in
time history analysis. In addition, the analysis was also performed to compare the
response of structures using base isolation with a building structure without using
base isolation system and also to see the energy dissipation from the base isolation
building system. The reference that is used as the basis for this plan is RSNI-
1726-201x (the Indonesian building code) which is similar with FEMA 450,
includes planning base isolation as well. |
