Until now, the most widely used method of earthquake-resistant design is known as "Force-Based Design" (FBD). In the FBD method, the level of structural damage caused by the earthquake cannot be known exactly. Level of damage or performance of the structure has a better correlation with displacement rather than force, because displacement can indicate structural damage directly. It is behind the development of alternative method known as "Direct Displacement-Based Design" (DDBD). DDBD method can be used not only to design but also for the assessment of existing structures. This thesis describes the applied DDBD method for assessment Cikubang Bridge structure which is part of Cipularang Toll Road, West Java, Indonesia. Assessment results will be compared to the results of the performance evaluation of structures based on performance-based method: nonlinear static (pushover) and Non-Linear Time History (NLTH)analysis, with the parameterobserved isthe drift value of the bridge. Objective comparison of the results of the three methods of analysis is to determine the relevance or accuracy of the assessment DDBD method for bridge, with the results of the NLTH analysis as a reference because it is considered as the most accurate method to describe the performance of the structure caused by the earthquake. Process modeling and structural analysis performed using a computer program MIDAS CIVIL 2011. Study result and analysis indicates that the assessment based on the DDBD procedure produce drift value which issimilar to the result of pushover analysis and does not have large difference in value of drift at the shortest pier with NLTH analysis, which is about 30-40%. Referring to the results, it can be concluded that the DDBD method is quite accurate in describing the performance of the Cikubang Bridge caused by the earthquake. text |
