It caused by biomass formed in that system had a lower settling velocity. Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) is the most common reactor for developing aerobic biogranular. Biogranular technology with this systems is one of the conventional technology improvements in order to obtain a more compact processing unit as will be assessed in this study. The purpose of this study was to determine the optimum conditions for the formation of aerobic granular from glucose substrate and acetate substrate. Experiments conducted on two reactor column with 1,2 m height; 5 cm in diameter; and 2,4 L working volume. The research was conducted with OLR 2.5kg COD/m3.day as a fixed variable. The others fixed variable are 1 L/min air flow rate; 1,1 g COD/g SS.day for F/M ratio; and cycle time for 8 hours. The research variation based on a settling time for 5;10;15 minutes. Results obtained from studies said that optimum conditions for aerobic biogranular achieved not only on glucose substrate but also on acetate substrate with the different good parameters. The best settling time is on 5 minutes for each substrate. The result shown from this research seeing on quality of aerobic biogranular are settling velocity (8,65 m/hour on glucose and 19,37 m/hour on acetate), density (0,0085 g/L on glucose and 0,0068 g/L on acetate), and diameter for aerobic biogranular (2,34 mm on glucose and 2,75 mm on acetate). text
