Summary: | Indonesian population’s lack of access to water supply (Perusahaan Daerah Air Minum) clean water remains a big challenge for environmental engineers. Modular water treatment, which requires both lower investment costs and shorter construction period than conventional installation, is one of the answers to that challenge. However, the downside of modular water treatment installation is its sedimentation unit that uses a lot of space. To overcome this space usage problem, bent plate settler in the sedimentation unit was used. Furthermore, the purpose of this experiment is testing the performance of the innovative modular water treatment that has 20 lpm for the maximum flow rate operation to remove total suspended solid (TSS), iron, mangan, organik, and turbidity. The quality of the water effluent is tested in laboratory fit with the parameters reviewed refer to National Standard of Indonesia (SNI). From this experiment, achieved if the installation has given great performance because the water effluent from this installation has met the quality standards based on Regulation of Health Ministry No. 492/2010 (Peraturan Menteri Kesehatan No. 492/2010) for the parameters that being reviewed (pH, turbidity, iron, organic, and manganese). Moreover,in this experiment also performed recirculation of the sludge from coagulation unit to optimize the performance of the installation. From the experiment obtained the optimum result is coming from 30% sludge recirculation. |
