The most well-known rivers that flows in this land is the Musi River, which is known as the main maritime trade transport route during the heyday of The Sriwijaya Kingdom. Today, however, this river has become increasingly polluted and silting. One of the responses that arising from this problem occurred in the Sub-District of Talang Kelapa, Banyuasin District, which is traversed by Musi River, got a visit from several parties of industrial companies from Palembang City and surrounding areas in order to conduct Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program to prevent siltation of Musi River. Example of the effort undertaken by them is planting bamboo. It made bamboo in the future can be considered to be utilized further, for example as a construction material. In addition to the CSR development, currently one of the villages in Talang Kelapa Sub-district, Gasing Village, is being looked at by local investors to be further developed as a business and tourism area. The design site that is located in the village, exactly in the riverside, was then developed into a limited-service hotel designed with a bamboo design approach. The building structure system designed to take the example of bamboo structure design style of Vo Trong Nghia, which sees bamboo as a whole element in structure. In this project, two bamboo structures are designed, namely a series of space frames in restaurant buildings and planar frames that cross each other for hall building. The limited-service hotel is a cluster of six main building masses, consist of a multifunction hall, restaurant, three guests rooms buildings with a total of 30 rooms, and a service building. In addition to these six masses, there are also some mass of supporting buildings namely the restaurant’s saung, musholla also toilets and warehouses. The design is done on an area of ± 1.7 ha which is across to Port Gasing and on the banks of the Musi River. The total designed building area is ± 4622 m2.
