A raspberry pi device must be able to operate in car environment conditions. The DC voltage source in the car is accumulator which is worth 12V, but in the specifications of the raspberry pi, the input voltage is 5V. So, a sub-system power management is needed to set the input voltage to raspberry pi. In addition, this sub-system can also be equipped with various features such as battery backup voltage source, led indicator as a notification of system status and voltage source being used. Other supporting hardware to help raspberry pi operate in a car environment is sub-system cooling and the integration of the entire sub-system into a single unit with small dimensions so that it can be placed under the driver's seat where this is the safest place in a car environment . By designing the system in accordance with the specifications and continuing with the implementation, there were 3 sub-systems that could support the operation of the raspberry pi in the car environment. Sub-system power management can reduce voltage from both 12V and 6.5V -8.4V voltage from the battery to 5V for raspberry pi input voltage, which is equipped with a yellow led feature as the sub-system notification runs well, blue led as voltage source notification which is being used comes from the battery and the red led as a voltage source notification comes from 12V, then there is also a safe charging of the battery. Another sub-system is a cooling system that is able to withstand the temperature of raspberry pi when operating at 73.6 ° C. With the overall dimensions of the hardware is 17.5cm x 13.5cm x 10cm and the power used is 3.7W. text |
