Summary: | Fields of work related to health, especially nurses at the executive level are known to have a high level of mental workload. Some studies state that there are impacts caused by high workloads, including health, quality of life at work, quality of patient care to patient safety. This study generally aims to determine the level of mental workload and psychosocial factor of inaporative nurses at the executive level at RSAU Dr. M. Salamun Bandung.
In achieving the research objectives, several related instruments were used in the form of questionnaire. The measurement of mental workload was carried out using the National Aeronautics and Space Administration questionnaire - Task-Load Index (Nasa-TLX). Nasa-TLX consists of six (6) dimensions of measurement, mental demands, physical demands, temporal demands, performance, effort and frustration. The measurement of psychosocial factor was carried out using The Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire (COPSOQ II) which consisted of seven (7) measurement scales, work demands, work organization and job content, interpersonal relations and leadership, work individual interface, values at workplace, health and well-being and offensive behavior. The questionnaire was distributed to forty-one (41) executive level nurses who served in the inpatient ward.
The results showed that average value of mental workload was in the high category. The value of the psychosocial factors in work environment shows good results on the majority of the rating scale. However, hospital management needs to pay attention to several aspects such as emotional demands, health perceptions, fatigue and stress and aspects of the temporal of work. The results of this study also indicate that there is a strong and significant positive relationship between the dimensions of management trust and performance (r = 0.545; p = 0.000). Thus, it is recommended that the hospital not only assesses the performance of nurses but can also regularly assess mental workloads and psychosocial factor in order to create a conducive work environment. |
