Summary: | An earthquake of magnitude 6,1 Mw at a depth of 15.9 km hit Central Aceh region on July 2, 2013, at 2:37 PM. local time. This earthquake affected landslides at 55 points in Central Aceh District. Earthquake that trigger landslides generally produce minimum shaking intensity at IV MMI (Modified Mercalli Intensity) or equivalent to peak ground acceleration, PGA at 0.01 g, that affected the steep topographic areas. As one of the mitigation efforts for earthquake-triggered landslide, this study was conducted to estimate the correlation between the 2013 Aceh Tengah event with physical parameters such as peak ground acceleration (PGA), slope, lithology, slope aspect, distance from drainages, distance from the surface rupture and curvature. In this study, landslide hazard map was also generated based on landslide events triggered by the 2 July 2013 earthquake in Central Aceh.
Analysis of correlation between landslide events and their triggering factors shows that the shaking intensity or PGA value has a significant role to the landslide events. This correlation is also reflected in the landslide hazard map. The landslide that occur in the southwest of the fault is predominantly triggered by the PGA factor, while the landslide in northeast of the fault is predominantly triggered by the slope factor.
