Summary:PT Kutai Timber Indonesia (KTI) is a wood manufacture factory, which located in Mayangan District, Probolinggo City, East Java. Headquarters and production centre of PT KTI both are located in Probolinggo City. Occupying an area of 356,500m2, PT Kutai Timber Indonesia consisted of three Production Plant. P1 for plywood production, P2 for woodwork production, and Particle Board Production Plant. Takuma Boiler is a boiler that supplies hot air to dryer 2 and 3 of P1 of PT Kutai Timber Indonesia. It utilizes wood waste chip as fuel, the chips are a mix of hardwood and softwood waste from the production process. This combustion process will produce lots of black carbon particulate, which has flue gas quality standard of 350 mg/m3 based on Peraturan Menteri Lingkungan Hidup no. 7 tahun 2007. In order to meet this standard, redesign of air pollution control is needed. As follows are the alternatives proposed; consisted of alternatives of dust collector for collecting dust, and also cooling system to decrease the temperature of boiler flue gas. After scoring is done, the alternative with the highest score is being selected. Air pollution control system that will be applied is pulse-jet baghouse filter with four compartements, preceded with shell-and-tube heat exchanger which uses ambient air as cold fluid and flue gas from boiler as hot fluid. From baghouse filter, clean air will flow to the chimney and then being released to the ambient air.
