FISH BONE- CALSIUM ALGINATE COMPOSITE FOR REMOVAL OF PB(II) IONS

Accumulation of heavy metals in thc aquatic environment from the industrial effluents is a major concern due to their to'<icity. especially Pb(ll). The aim of this study is to investigatt: Pb(TI) removal from an aqueous solution by adsorpt1on using runa fish bones (Eut...

The physical characterizations of adsorbent from tuna fish bones in calsium alginate were ca1Ticd out using FTrR. SEM and EDS analysis. Effect of adsorption parameters such as pH. ad orbent mass, contact time. and initial concentration of Pb(If) were studied. The optimum ad orption ofPb(ll) ions was found at a pH of 4 using 0.075 gram of adsorbent. with initial concentration of Pb(lf) ions was 2000 ppm, and an adsorpti on time of 120 minutes. The adsorption prot•ess was followed Langmuir isotherm adsorption and results of kineltc anal ysis showed that the adsorption processes of Pb(JI) ions onto KTI-KA followed pseudo second order kinetics. text
