INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/36298 Drinking water is one of many sources of microbial pathogens that enter the human body. Until now, water sector in developing countries are still dependent only on final product quality examination. Quantitative Microbial Risk Assessment (QMRA) is proven more effective to ensure the safety of consumers in the consumption of drinking water. This study aims to determine how effective the treatment of drinking water in households by calculating the number of coliform bacteria and fecal coli in the raw water of drinking water, water treatment effluent, and drinking water that are ready to be consumed in the household. Examination of coliform and fecal coli bacteria used the Most Probable Number (MPN) method. Among 21 water samples from the water refill depots in Ujungberung District, ten of them were contaminated with coliform bacteria and eight of them were contaminated with fecal coli in the average MPN value 157 and 140. Examination was also performed on nine samples of water supplier that sell water at retail, all of samples were contaminated by coliform and fecal coli bacteria in average MPN value 586 and 413. The quality of water treatment effluent in Minitreatment Plant (MP) Cipanjalu which serves Ujungberung District had MPN value 0 in coliform and fecal coli, in accordance with applicable standards, showed the processing performed in the installation was quite effective since the MPN value of coliforms and fecal coli in raw water reached 240,000. The examination results of drinking water samples in household level showed the average MPN value of coliform and fecal coli reached 172 and 145 for refill water, 351 and 317 for cooked water tap. It showed that although drinking water has been through the treatment process, it still risky contaminated by coliform and fecal coli in the household level. text
