The research aim is to determine geological setting and find out coal resource and potential coal deposits in the research area. Primary data used in this research obtained from field observation and field data collection, such as outcrop data and core data. Research area was divided into four geomorphologic units which are Bukit Gantung Hills Unit, Pemasi Lava Flow Hills Unit, Afdeling Homocline Plain Unit, and Satiung Flood Plain Unit. The stratigraphy of research area divided into four unofficial units from oldest to youngest: Breccia Unit that deposited on Trias, Andesite Lava Unit, Sandstone – Claystone Unit (Pliocene – Pleistocene) that deposited unconformity above Breccia Unit and Andesite Lava Unit. Aluvial Unit (Recent) deposited unconformity above the others rock units. Geological structure developed in the research area is fault in west southwest – east northeast direction. Coal analysis in this research is in the form of secondary data from the laboratory, includes vitrinite reflectance analysis, maceral composition analysis, proximate analysis, and ultimate analysis. Based on general analysis, coal deposit in research area has lignite to subbituminus quality. Based on litofasies analysis, coal deposit characterization, and microlithotypes, coal deposit in the research area was deposited in transitional lower delta plain environment. The calculation of resources for coal deposits in the study area based on USGS circular method and coal distance information based on SNI. The calculation results are: 47.964.495,68 ton measured coal resources, 97.389.318,13 ton indicated coal resources, and 115.932.668,24 ton inferred coal resources. text
