Badak NGL (PTB) is one of three LNG Plants available in Indonesia, located in Bontang-Kalimantan Timur and it has been in operation since 1974. Currently it produces around 9 MTPA (million tonnes per annum) of 22.5 MPTA maximum capacity which is about 50 % of Indonesia LNG Production. According to 2017 Wold LNG Report by International Gas Union (IGU) Indonesia contributed 16.6 MTPA or 6.4% of 258 Million Tonnes of LNG production in the world in 2016. LNG is the liquid form of natural-gas which takes up 1/600th of its gaseous volume so that LNG has made the natural gas transport feasible where the pipeline is not technically & economically not feasible. At the destination place LNG then is regassified and piped to the end-users used as fuel of power-plant, internal combustion engine, cooking stove and feed-stock of petrochemical industry etc. Facing the current competitive LNG market, gas-supply declining, and challenges as also other industries experience the human-resources competency has significant role to the sustainable of the company. Other than producing LNG PTB also has conducted several LNG Plant Commissioning Assistance projects which purely rely on the human-resources competency. The proper implementation of Knowledge Management (KM) is required to retain the knowledge and skill of employees especially for PTB that has only human-resources as company-asset. All other asset of PTB including Plant Equipment, Property etc belong to the Government of Indonesia (GoI), Ministry of Finance Indonesia. PTB has implemented KM including the development of KM Guidebook, KM internet-portal, sharing-sessions at Community of Practice (CoP), and KM Team consist of all Department representative. The author sees opportunity for improvement covering KM frame-work components and the utilization of KM by all stake-holders. This MBA Final Project will review the existing KM, find the gap compared with the best-practice and propose the improvement action. text |
