Description
Summary:Rural areas have a very potential market to be developed by the logistics company industry, because they have considerable demand for rural goods where the internet has become popular in rural communities. This is a very good prospect for logistics companies to expand business in rural areas in the coming years. The logistics business is a very competitive business that is built on markets and profits. This phenomenon becomes an opportunity for PT. Pos Indonesia to build a logistics service business with the establishment of the Logistics Integration Division to manage all logistics business activities. But in reality based on PT Pos Indonesia's business performance report data over a period of 5 years, the logistics business performance is still very low, which only contributes 4% of the total business revenue of PT. Existing Pos Indonesia. One of the causes of the performance of the logistics business of PT. Pos Indonesia is the unclear business concept that will be carried out by the Logistics Integration Division. At the present condition of the existing business still has the same business concept that intersects with the business activities of two other divisions at PT. Pos Indonesia is a letter & package division and a subsidiary of PT. Pos Logistik Indonesia, which still handles retail shipments and government projects. The efforts made by previous studies related to the development of rural logistics businesses are still partial without any connection with e-commerce. In this study, the proposed development of e-commerce rural logistics businesses is carried out thoroughly based on the main reference of Dong Haoping (2010), namely in developing e-commerce rural logistics businesses using a network of posts held to rural areas. The stages of developing an e-commerce rural logistics business are carried out using the business model approach by Osterwalder (2010) and the analysis tool uses the Service PositioningAnalysis (SPA)matrix to determine the position of the company's service strategy before entering the business model. To establish the competitive advantage of the new business model, the Kandampully (2002) approach was conducted. After obtaining an ecommerce rural logistics business model proposal, an alternative selection analysis is carried out as a logistics service provider or logistical agent using the approach to analyze the flow of goods, information and money from each alternative proposal. The results of the proposed new business concept of PT. Pos Indonesia is by developing a rural logistic business model which is followed by an e-commerce platform business where PT. Pos Indonesia acts as a rural logistics service provider. The rural logistics business development is based on the strength of the logistics infrastructure network owned by PT. Pos Indonesia which is connected to remote sub-districts / villages throughout Indonesia that are not / not owned by other companies at this time. E-commerce platform business development that was developed by PT. Pos Indonesia will provide a competitive advantage, where PT. Pos Indonesia can connect the needs of the community in rural and urban areas with ecommerce based systems. With the e-commerce rural logics services, it is expected to facilitate the reach of rural and urban communities to obtain their respective basic needs with price stability and availability of goods that can controlled, besides improving company performance
