Four college institutions in this area resulted in the arrival of the student migrants at least 30 thousand inhabitants who will be domiciled for several years in this district. In addition, If it is assumed that 70% of the total migrant population live in Jatinangor where the migrants have a lifestyle with a high consumption level, and Jatinangor as the densest subdistrict in Sumedang district will result in a level of waste productivity that increases rapidly and followed by changes in the characteristics of waste generated. The research will measure the level of garbage handling by the people in Jatinangor in 3 regions, namely Hegarmanah, Cintamulya, and Jatiroke which are reviewed through 5 variables (community conditions, infrastructure, funding, government roles, and institutions. In the Hegarmanah region the final score is 0.2 / 1 and Cintamulya 0.25 / 1 which give the title of "Poor" in the two regions. While the Jatiroke area is worth -0.12 / -1 which gives the title "Bad" and needs further handling. On average, Jatinangor has a value of 0 1/1 and indicates the need to improve the handling of waste by the community. This research also measured the level of preference of the people in Jatinango, which gave a final score of 0.64 / 1 which gave a good predicate to the level of people's preference. In this study, what factors will lie behind the level of community preference based on the poor level of waste management in the 3 regions using factor analysis using the PCA (Principal Component Analysis) method and multilinear regression which produces 7 of the 13 variable group factors that handle waste. significant effect on the level of people's preference. And through community preference cluster analysis that identified 2 clusters (low & high) with a predominance of 1 weakness factor and 2 strength factors in both clusters. Through community preference cluster analysis that identified 2 clusters (low & high) with population dominance in the high class (87.2%). The SWOT analysis produced an IFA value of 0.18 and EFS 0.14 which indicates the need for an aggressive strategy to improve waste management in Jatinangor District which focuses on institutional strengthening. text
