The important component in electric bike is the battery, which acts as energy storage. Meanwhile, Indonesian electric bike products still use Valve Regulated Lead Acid (VRLA) battery which gives significant amount of weight to the bike. Moreover, the current battery management system does not exhibit enough information in order to assess the battery condition accurately – which leads to suboptimal battery usage and maintenance. Alternative solution in terms of battery management system – that can measure condition of the battery accurately – is deemed necessary. This research designed and implemented a new microcontroller-based battery management system for one of the Indonesian electric bike products. Lithium-ion battery – which have higher energy density and efficiency than a VRLA battery – is used. The battery is modeled by dual polarization method (DP), which then used to obtain the open circuit voltage value. This value is estimated with recursive least square method. Another measured parameters of the battery is the state of charge (SOC) and temperature. Monitoring is done with microcontroller which integrated with user interface system based on Android, using Firebase as the data storage. The result showed that the litium-ion battery perform the stable capacity on 12.51 Ah. Consequently, the battery management system was able to afford Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) value of SOC as maximum as 2.47 %. text
