Summary: | Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) is the wastewater treatment using a medium for microbial growth. Microorganism will be attached to the medium where conditioned in suspension condition in wellmixed basin. Reactor consist of equalization tank, denitrification 1, nitrification, buffer tank, denitrification 2, degassing tank, and biological clarifier. These tanks have volume respectively of 0.5 m3, 0.2 m3, 0.4 m3, 0.05 m3, 0.1 m3, 0.05 m3, 0.14 m3. Biochip fill on denitrification and nitrification tank. In this research, used discharge 3.3 liters/min, DO 0-2 ppm and 4-6 ppm in denitrification and nitrification tank, and HRT 4.7 hours. This study used the original wastewater from WWTP Bojongsoang for volume of biochip variation and synthetic waste for inlet concentration variation. There are 3 variations of volume of biochip variation ie 50%, 75%, and 100% of initial design from filling of biochip, and four variations of inlet concentration variation ie 120, 250, 300, and 350 mg/LCOD. Efficiency of 50%, 75%, and 100% of the initial design from filling of biochip respectively 17%, 47% and 54% which indicates volume of biochip influence organic removal. MBBR system with inlet concentrations of 120, 250, 300, and 350 mg/L COD has a removal efficiency respectively 60%, 76%, 55% and 74%. Organic removal efficiency of this research showed less than optimal results. BOD/COD outlet smaller than BOD/COD inlet indicates biological treatment can be used to treat domestik wastewater. MBBR effluent quality based on pH, BOD, and TSS in volume of biochip and inlet concentration variation appropriate with quality standards Kepmen LH No. 112/2003 except TSS and BOD in 50% of the initial design from filling of biochip. MBBR system better than pond system to treat domestic wastewater based on detention time, wide area, and the organic removal efficiency. While the pond system is better based on energy consumption. |
