Summary: | Groundwater conservation is the efforts to maintain the availability and sustainability of groundwater nature and function so that groundwater always available for fulfill the need of the organism in the world, for nowadays or even for the future generation. So if the groundwater contamination happens, the contaminated groundwater must be cleaned up from the contaminant with the groundwater remediation technic. In this study will discuss about Pump-and-Treat system, which is one of the groundwater remediation technic, to solve the study case of the contaminated groundwater. Pump-and-Treat system is one of the remediation technic that widely used because the simplicity in the operation than the other groundwater remediation technic.
In this groundwater remediation system will be reviewed about pump capture zone, so that the pumping variables, such as pumping discharge, pumping location, total of pumps and duration of the pumping, can be determine to planning the Pump-and-Treat system later.
To determined and delineate the capture zone, capture zone analysis will be done by using two methods. The Thiem-Uniform Flow Equation and USEPA released program called WhAem®. Both of this method will be compared and studied to give the most suitable method to design Pump-and-Treat system. The WhAem® method is used, and the pumping variable determined method are discharge in the amount of 95 m3/day troughout the 109 day duration of pumping.
In this water treatment system will be used actiavated carbon technic, this technis is used because easier to operate than other treatment system. The target of this system is to eliminate benzene to the effluent concentration that state by Government regulation number.82 year 2001. After the activated carbon variable is determined, the hydraulic of the Pump-and-Treat system is planeed so that pump system able to meet the requirement of the system head so the system can run.
In this remediation system that using the pump-and-treat- system, cost that expected to be spent in the amount of Rp. 831.580.705 trouhgout the 109 days operation. |
