In Indonesia, the high unemployment rate is a national problem that continues to be a concern of the government, with most of them belongs to the lower-middle class community. It is due to the limited access to information on job vacancies. To overcome this problem, the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower released a mobile recruitment application named Join Kandidat in 2017. Join Kandidat targets low-skilled jobseekers such as administrative staff, service business personnel, sales worker, agricultural workers, craftsmen, and machine operators. On the other hand, low level of expertise and education of the lower-middle class triggers differences in acceptance of digital technology. This raises the challenge of how to design m-recruitment applications, which are appropriate for lower-middle class community. This study aims to produce design recommendations through evaluation of user experience on Join Kandidat, Temu, and Aasaanjobs. This research uses mix method approach through User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ) and interviews. 44 low skilled jobseekers (classified as group 5, 6, 7, or 8, based on KBJI) with a maximum degree of high school participated in this study. Results of investigation showed that users appreciated m-recruitment application as a breakthrough to widen the job market. However, the low level of digital literacy has resulted in pragmatic quality problems such as foreign features and recruitment system, misinterpreted language, mismatching glyphs, too long forms, complicated filters, and unclear feedback. The hedonic evaluation stated that the characteristics of the respondents made them more interested in using applications with a colorful and flashy user interface. text
