Summary: | Generating Unit (GU) Suralaya is one of the power plant managed by PT Indonesia Power with eight exiting units being managed. The units is capable of producing electrical supply as much as 3.400 MW or 46,51 % of total electrical production in Java-Bali electrical supply system. The production of electricity is done by heating the water in steam generator using coal as the primary fuel. The by-product of coal burning is particulate and gaseous emissions, such as SO2. This SO2 emission needs to be controlled so as not to have an impact on the environment and health. On unit IV PLTU Suralaya, with the consumption of coal is 201423,23 kg/hour and the sulfur content of coal is 0,53%, the SO2 concentration produced is 1660,646 mg/Nm3. This amount of concentration exceeds with the limits set by KLHK listed on Permen LH No. 21 Tahun 2008, which is 750 mg/Nm3. Therefore, a system of air pollution control for SO2 emission will be designed in the form of wet flue gas desulfurization, implementing lime-scrubbing technology using packed tower absorber. The packed tower absorber has a diameter of 15 meter and total height of 24,15 meter. This lime scrubbing wet flue gas desulfurization will produce gypsum sludge ((CaSO4·2H2O) as by-product. This sludge will be treated by using thickener unit and horizontal belt filer so that the water content in sludge will be reduced. The dewatered sludge cake can be sold to produce economical value. |
