Engagament behavior is important because it can help students achieve their learning goals. Autism is a developmental disorder with abnormalities in aspects of social interaction, communication and behavior. Classroom design guidelines for autism students have been proposed, but based on observations in several schools the guidelines have not yet been implemented. Based on previous research, classroom design guidelines for autism students are still limited to the results of observations so that further evaluation is needed. The furniture plan configuration is part of the design guide, which focuses on arranging furniture in the classroom. The results of observations in several schools showed differences in furniture arranged in sociofugal and sociopetal. This study aims to examine the role and relationship of furniture plan configurations to the engagament behavior of autism students The methodology used in this research is the mix method by collecting data quantitatively through experiments and analysis carried out qualitatively using the theory of proxemics, autism and the theory of involvement (engagament). The experiment was conducted in two SLB PUSPPA Suryakanti classrooms involving 4 students with autism. Experiments were carried out in 5 conditions, namely condition 1 using the configuration of existing classroom furniture plans and 4 furniture plan configuration stimulus conditions that crossed proxemics theory and engagament theory. Engagament measurement uses the Engagement Profile and Scale measure. The results of the study indicate that the configuration of classroom furniture plans has an influence and enhances the engagament behavior of students with autism. The best furniture plan configuration is a configuration that is arranged in a sociopetal-passive and sociopetal-dynamic manner. The results of this study are expected to be useful for the science of interior design, psychology, special education science, the development of related science and can be applied to classroom learning activities. text
