With a very high increase in demand, PT XYZ decided to add production machinery and redesign the layout of the hydraulic cylinder remanufacturing facility to increase its production capacity. Therefore, this study aims to determine the best layout planning alternatives that can meet the increasing demand by paying attention to the practical limitation. The design of the layout of remanufacturing facilities using a hydraulic cylinder uses a Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) by applying a type of hybrid layout. The hybrid layout used consists of group technology layout, functional layout, and fixed position layout. The group technology layout aims to group components and machines into parts of the family using the Rank Order Clustering (ROC) algorithm, then calculating the maximum number of machines in one cell by calculating the percentage capacity of each machine. Functional layout contains one type of machine with the same function. In addition, PT XYZ has facilities and production machines whose positions are very difficult to move, so that they are grouped into a fixed position layout. Alternative generation layout design process uses WinQSB software that applies the CRAFT algorithm by transferring 2 departments (2-Opt) and 3 departments (3-Opt). The layout design of the PT XYZ hydraulic cylinder remanufacturing facility which was formed resulted in 6 manufacturing cells with several identical cells, 2 functional areas, and 4 fixed position areas. After adjustments are made by adding up the cost of handling intercellular material and the cost of handling intracellular materials, the proposed layout design resulted in a total material handling cost of Rp 17.640.964,49 per month to reach the target of 250 hydraulic cylinder units per month using an appropriate distance of 3,855.8 m in one remanufacturing process. text |
