Remanufacturing process is the restoration process for the components or machines, that previously used or damaged, until the condition of that components or machines, return like a new one. One of the most shipped component to the PT UTR to get the remanufacturing process is the component engine D85ESS. However, for the remanufacturing process that’s currently carried out, tardiness still often occurs, especially for the assembly stage. This problem happens, because processing time for the remanufacturing process that has been set based on the company’s standard time, in the reality doesn’t fit with the actual processing time for the remanufacturing process. With the application of work station design techniques, the root cause that makes that problem happens has been known. The root cause is because currently there is tightening bolt process that use torque wrench manually. Because there is so many bolts that must be tightened manually, processing time needed for that work become very long, and often cause tardiness for the assembly stage. Processing time for that thightening bolt process, contribute as much as 69,42% from the overall lead time needed in the assembly stage. After process analysis has been done against the existing kondition, there is two proposed improvements that can be done, to reduce the processing time for that thightening bolt process. First, is replace the torque wrench manual with the impact wrench, a tightening bolt tool that use wind pressure or electricity as its power, or increase the number of working mechanics. Based on the selection criterias for the proposed improvements, like level of the efectiveness from the proposed improvement to overcome the problems that occur, the fisibility of the proposed improvement’s implementation, and the ammount of cost that must be incurred for the proposed improvement’s implementation, the replacement of torque wrench manual to impact wrench has been selected. The choosen impact wrench is the impact wrench cordless electric model Milwaukee M18 Fuel 2763-22, because beside fulfill those three selection criterias, this tool has also a good usage flexibility. With that replacement of tool, the lead time that needed for the assembly stage, decrease significantly, from 948,31 minutes, decreased by 63,7%, to only be 343,85 minutes. Because the lead time is very far below from the company’s standard time, that is 600 minutes, the number of tardiness in the assembly stage, decrease significantly too. text |
