Summary: | Changes and lifestyles are the factors which usually trigger the problems in fulfilling residential needs. These diversity of needs among the society made various choices (possibilities) about the residential criteria for each individual. For people who choose to live in vertical houses, the concept of loft is exist as one of the alternatives offered in accommodating various kinds of interests. Spaces that can be transformed freely, adjusting the lifestyle of modern society who usually connected with living and working. Furthermore, the loft's physical character itself is truly potential in distributing natural light properly. But clearly, in its application in tropical countries like Indonesia this concept needs some contextual adjusment and adaptation. The thesis will be intended as a flexible development of the dwelling units design (as a working space and living space) which are good in the natural lighting quality. The simulation method is based on the Sefaira program, Real-time daylighting analysis. From the results of the analysis it was found that the role of the cross openings, building envelope and building configuration were the most important things in the distribution of natural light properly. These aspects are also integrated with various possibility of transformations in the inner space. The results will be presented in the form of an iterative process of several models , explaining its strenths and weaknesses, and also the value of the optimization itself. |
