Description
Summary:Substitution box is one of the non linear components from cryptography algorithm. In general, substitution box has n bit input and m bit output. A permutations of substitution box has significant character that all input will get one output from substitution box. The substitution box used in cryptography algorithms must be well function as part of a good cryptographic algorithm. In a cryptography, many attacks were applied on cryptography algorithm in order to get specific information such as key lenght or round number. The substitution box as one of the boolean functions used in cryptographic algorithms must have resistance to cryptographic attacks such as linear cryptanalysis, linear cryptanalysis, or Differential Power Analysis attack. To measure the vulnerability of a substitution box for various cryptographic attacks, several characteristics are introduced that need to be applied to the substitution box, such as nonlinearity, differential distribution table, robustness, global avalanche criterion, algebraic degree, balanceness, and transparancy order. Substitution box built with a good design and certain algorithm will have unique characteristics compared to substitution box that build randomly without design and algorithm.
