This property is related to the solubility and dissolution rate of meloxicam, so that solid dispersion of meloxicam was made to increase dissolution rate. On this experiment, the preparation of meloxicam solid dispersion was constructed by using several carriers such as Poloxamer 407, Poloxamer 188, and Poly ethylen glycol (PEG) 6000. The method used in the preparation of solid dispersions was combination of fusion and solvent evaporation method. Solid dispersion and physical mixture from each carrier were made in three different ratios, namely 1:1, 1:2, and 1:3. Meloxicam was dissolved in DMF, while the carriers were melted on electric heater, then they were mixed until it was homogen and the solvent was evaporated with rotary vaporator and oven. Dissolution test were performed on solid dispersion, physical mixture, recrystalized meloxicam, and pure meloxicam. The amount of meloxicam dissolved was analyzed using UV-Vis spectrophotometer at wavelength of 362 nm. The dissolution efficiency from each formula were calculated and compared. Based on the observation, solid dispersion from Poloxamer 188 with ratio of 1: 3 had the highest dissolution efficiency of 75,20 ± 1,98 % in 60 minutes. Analysis with SEM showed that the particles formed of solid dispersion that were different from pure meloxicam and poloxamer 188. While evaluation with FTIR showed that there was no shift in peak of IR spectrum of solid dispersion and physical mixture of meloxicam. Based on XRD diffractogram, there was no difference in pattern of diffractogram in solid dispersion and physical mixture of meloxicam. text
