Leachate treatment at Kopiluhur Landfill does not include leachate quality standards Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation No. 59 of 2016. Leachate treatment is carried out in stabilization ponds with a discharge of 50.40 m3/day. This makes the overlap in the wet months, where as in the dry month the stabilization pond is not filled with leachate and the growth of microorganisms is inhibited for hydrolysis, acidogenesis and methanogenesis. So far, waste water from the Kopiluhur Landfill stabilization pond outlet was immediately discharged into the Kalilunyu River while monitoring leachate water was not routinely carried out because the Kopiluhur Landfill was not equipped with monitoring wells and laboratory analysis. Leachate recirculation is not available to overcome the overload of leachate collected in stabilization ponds. In the 2011-2031 Regional Spatial Plan, the Kopiluhur Landfill is planned to be a controlled landfill system with the provision of supporting infrastructure and environmental protection such as overburden, leachate recirculation, leachate treatment, drainage, leachate collection and leachate collection ponds. Kopiluhur Landfill requires redesign of the leachate treatment system by optimizing leachate treatment plants and adding recirculation systems, along with optimization of drainage systems, overburden and monitoring wells.
