Summary: | Tourism Railways are one of the tourism alternatives which in recent years have been in demand. Traveling style by providing experience during the trip can also be a connectivity between the area of origin of tourists and the tourist destination area itself. Indonesia has PT KA Tourism which introduced tourism travelling by train since 2009. But infrastructure that supports the railways needs is still limited, such as the use of old transit train stations that have not undergone much development. The train station should not only accommodate transit needs, but also the needs of tourists using tourism railways.
This thesis study is purposed to get a train station design that can support the two concepts above, tourism and transit. The attractiveness of the railway station, the circulation of visitors in it, and the transit facilities are important criterias in the design. Heritage buildings are one of the historical elements to strengthen attraction. To strengthen this value can use Contextual Architecture that harmonizes the design of the railway station with the surrounding area. To differentiate from an ordinary transit station, it is usually placed a secondary attraction that is only owned by the railway station. Circulation of visitors inside the railway station must be distinguished between transit passengers and tourism railway passengers so as not to cause congestion. Circulation is also designed to apply the wayfinding method for better mobility and sightseeing to give a different experience. In terms of transit, the availability of transit facilities and other modes of transportation are needed to travel across destinations. With the design of the railway station that follows these criteria, it is hoped that not only will facilitate access for train users but also provide a separate travel experience for visitors who use trains. |
