True Triaxial Multistage Testing is done by giving an incremental load ?2 and ?3 gradually until the example will experience failure. Using the Mohr-Coloumb failure criteria, parameters c (cohesion) and ? (inner friction angle) will be generated which will then be compared with several Multistage True Triaxial test methods for the same sample conditions. The results of the True Triaxial Multistage I (TTX-MS I) test show that the c value of the test is 17.87% higher than the True Triaxial Single-Stage (TTX-SS) test and 9.37% greater than the True Triaxial Multi-test Stage II (TTX-MS II). Whereas for the value of ? lower than 10.35% compared to TTX-SS and lower 2.87% compared to TTX-MS II. The results of the parameters from the test are then used to modeling an opening hole with radius of 4 m 350 m depth to determine the difference in safety factor values (FK) of the two types of tests whose results show that the TTX-MS I test produces a higher FK value of 9.9% on the wall and 10.15% higher on the roof than the TTX-SS. text |

Multistage True Triaxial Testing Method was developed in the hope of becoming a
more representative test with the actual conditions in the field and the use of more
efficient samples, costs and time. True Triaxial Multistage Testing is done by giving
an incremental load ?2 and ?3 gradually until the example will experience failure.
Using the Mohr-Coloumb failure criteria, parameters c (cohesion) and ? (inner
friction angle) will be generated which will then be compared with several
Multistage True Triaxial test methods for the same sample conditions.
The results of the True Triaxial Multistage I (TTX-MS I) test show that the c value
of the test is 17.87% higher than the True Triaxial Single-Stage (TTX-SS) test and
9.37% greater than the True Triaxial Multi-test Stage II (TTX-MS II). Whereas for
the value of ? lower than 10.35% compared to TTX-SS and lower 2.87% compared
to TTX-MS II. The results of the parameters from the test are then used to modeling
an opening hole with radius of 4 m 350 m depth to determine the difference in safety
factor values (FK) of the two types of tests whose results show that the TTX-MS I
test produces a higher FK value of 9.9% on the wall and 10.15% higher on the roof
than the TTX-SS.
