A STUDY OF YEAST CELLS GROWTH AT COLONY DIAMETER LESS THAN TWENTY CELLS BY USING CIRCULAR GRANULAR CELL MODEL

Yeast cells growth can be modeled by using circular granular cells which can grow and produce bud. Contact force, gravitational force, and Stokes force was adopted to accommodate the behavior and interactions among cells. Simulation steps is divided into two step, the explicit step is due to cell...

Contact force, gravitational force, and Stokes force was adopted to accommodate the behavior and interactions among cells. Simulation steps is divided into two step, the explicit step is due to cell growing and implicit step for the cells rearrangement. Only in explicit step that time changes was performed. In this study, we examine the influence of cell growth time and reproduction time combination toward the growth of cell number and colony diameter. It is obtained the same cell number growth rate for the same combination cell growth time and reproduction time value. It also show a linear correlation between cell number growth rate and colony diameter growth rate. In addition, the simulation results were compared with experimental results and HCP model at the same cells number. It was found that the simulation results has the smallest colony diameter because of the overlap at the cells arrangement. text
