STUDY OF ROCKBURST POTENTIAL IN LABORATORY SCALE WITH BIAXIAL TESTING

The Mining World is always faced with problems regarding the strength of rocks related to aspects of work safety. Excavation of tunnels on rock masses causes changes in stress conditions in the original rock mass. This causes displacement in the affected area. As a result of degradation of rock mass...

Excavation of tunnels on rock masses causes changes in stress conditions in the original rock mass. This causes displacement in the affected area. As a result of degradation of rock mass can cause a decrease in stability of the rock mass. Determining the right planning will increase the stability of tunnel excavation. Changes in depth from underground mining activities will cause changes in tension around the tunnel. This change in voltage will cause the release of energy in the rock mass, the release of this energy can trigger rockburst around the opening hole. The rock burst phenomenon can be observed by carrying out an energy approach that takes place through laboratory testing by conducting UCS testing in both elastic strain energy before failure and plastic strain energy after failure, and by biaxial testing which represents the voltage variations experienced by tunnels that represent the conditions in the field. and also performed numerical modeling by using Finite Element Method to predict rockburst occurrence by knowing the stress distribution and strain around the tunnel. text
