RECONSTRUCTION OF DEPOSITIONAL MODEL OF OLIGO-MIOCENE LIMESTONE IN BAYAH AND SURROUNDING AREA, LEBAK DISTRICT, BANTEN PROVINCE

Oligo-Miocene limestone is interesting because the time is the most extensive development of limestone. The Bayah area is one of the regions that has the distribution of Oligo-Miocene limestones. The Bayah area is one of the regions that has the distribution of Oligo-Miocene limestones. The lack of research on limestones in the area is the background of this research. The existence of three different patterns of geological structures in the research area is one of the reasons for this research. Because it will give the possibility of sedimentation of the limestone controlled by the existence of the structure. The methodology in this thesis is doing measuring section stratigraphy. The measurement is also equipped with rock sampling to analyze thin section and rock slabs. Reconstruction of limestone depositional model at the research area, thr first is to identify facies and microfacies of limestone . The results of the analysis are used to determine the facies zone of limestone. Correlation was guided by the results of the analysis of relative age. The relative age of limestones is P22 (Late Oligocene) to N4 (Early Miocene). These limestones are deposition in the slope facies zone to the deep shelf. The type of carbonate platform that is the source of limestone at the study area is a attached to land carbonate platform. The results of reconstruction of the limestone deposition model show two polarity. Indicates that there is an old morphology that controls this limestone deposition. The high morphology in the south which eastwest is probably related to volcanoes. East-west polarity, shallow in the middle and deep to the west and east indicates the existence of a north-south trending paleomorphology that controls this limestone deposition. text
