“KUCING AIR” AS INSPIRATION ON INSTALLATION ART

The research of this final project is motivated by the phenomenon of social problems experienced by the authors themselves, especially about the perspective in seeing the consumer behavior of people who are interested in buying and selling used clothes (ballpress). The culture of buying and selling used clothes, in each individual community has a different purpose, and in conducting transactions there appears a process of symbolic interaction. There are various ways and methods in fulfilling their consumptive passions, either in the usual way or not, which are in accordance with their identity or not The phenomenon of “Kucing Air” is used as the starting point and inspiration of the author in the work, the reason for choosing the object to make the author more touched while bringing the “Kucing Air” in the imagination. “Kucing Air” in the real lives are very hard to compete to get some rupiah. The target is the upper middle class. Although in his life it looks like a deception, it is only done in business competition. All of that is done to maintain their image in the eyes of customers. In reality their lives, outside of business remain harmonious and establish friendship with each other. Seeing the phenomenon, the contemplative writer tries to analyze and represent these conditions through the process of work, beginning with trying to emerge ideas that occur in the author behaving as "Kucing Air". The Background to this phenomenon is the author tries to summarize through the study and process of work form a visual final work of art through a qualitative descriptive method to implement the idea of "Kucing Air" which is packaged in participatory installation art. The process is by reviewing some of the related literature and modification of the found object in accordance with the theme. So that it can be described as an interpretation of the author as the outlined of the final project. The work of the final project is carried out with various types of technical and methods. Like the fine arts techniques, like print art that exist in graphic arts combined with several other fine art techniques such as embroidering, as well as the techniques that have been studied by the author while doing the working process in a previous studio.
