Summary: | Human is a social creature, we as a living being have instinct or factor that drives us to
make social interaction, this interaction is needed to make a human feel whole and
connected on living their life. When us as human failed to get the needed amount of social
interaction or failed on building up a meaningful interpersonal relationship in certain
amount of time, we’re experiencing the feeling of loneliness. This project observed that in
a life of young adult that going through college, the said feeling of loneliness is always
exist, just evolving as a person grow and develop. How long and how strong they feel the
loneliness is different to each person.
Through those ideas and using the concept of loneliness from Robert Weiss and Mary C.
Townsend, this project grasp the idea to create an artwork called “Companion”. Here this
project tried to explore the loneliness she feel while she’s living the life of college student,
and also a young adult using photography to capture places that is quiet at times but have
sentimental weight. The photography results combined with drawings to expressing the
interpretation about interpersonal relationship & loneliness, that in this case it means the
experience of failing to connect with the environment someone is in which is the campus
ground.
The end result is two series of artwork, series one is printed digital drawings, and the
second series is digital drawing screened with projection device. Both artworks captured
some different emotional part within this theme of loneliness and social isolation, which is
presented here as a journey. |
