This realization leads to the vision of ASEAN leaders in forming ASEAN Community. Master Plan on ASEAN Community (MPAC) is a set of projects from three different section in order to increase the connectivity between countries in order to realize this vision. At the same time under the presidency of Joko Widodo, one of the Indonesian’s government focus is to build the nation from the edge of the country. Both of this vision came together in a project short sea shipping plan to increase the connectivity in maritime transport. Three priority route is chosen in Bitung, Dumai, and Belawan on Indonesian side. Within these three routes only Bitung route had been implemented and was short lived, not being able to sail for more than once. This research aims to identify the readiness of the Indonesian government in implementing Dumai—Malaka route in regards to institusional and economy. This research will use content analysis to analyze both interviews and literature. The research conducted reveals that Indonesian Government preparation although still ongoing is in the right direction, with some shortfall coming from its Malaysian counterpart and the local government. The support of regional economy is sufficient to start an integration and can expand to another sectors beside production chain with the right push from the government. text
