Summary:The tourism sector is a multidisciplinary and multisectoral field. The tourism sector in Indonesia not only contributes to increasing the country's foreign exchange and employment, but also provides social, economic, environmental and cultural impacts and customs. Therefore, the government made efforts to develop the tourism sector by establishing 10 priority tourism destinations that lift all types of tourism in Indonesia, both natural, cultural and man-made. One of the 10 priority tourism destinations is the Kota Tua Jakarta Tourism Area which elevates tourism and cultural heritage or also called urban tourism. The number of tourist visits in the Kota Tua Jakarta Tourism Area, which has continued to increase in the past 5 years, shows that it has great potential to be developed. Taken from this potential, information is needed regarding the type or characteristics of tourists to carry out planning and tourism development strategies. In an effort to develop Kota Tua Jakarta Tourism Area so that it is attractive to visit, the tourist area must have interconnected tourism products one another. These tourism products include attractions, accessibility, and amenities. Development of tourist areas through tourism products will be more optimal when considering tourist perceptions and preferences. This research was conducted to determine the characteristics, perceptions and preferences of tourists towards the factors of tourism products (attractions, accessibility, and amenities) in Kota Tua Jakarta Tourism Area which will have an impact on increasing the number of tourist visits, improving the economy and the welfare of the community aroud Kota Tua Jakarta Tourism Area. The first step to achieve this goal is to identify tourist characteristics in Kota Tua Jakarta Tourism Area through a questionnaire and processed using quantitative descriptive analysis. The results based on demographics show that the characteristics of tourists from the Kota Tua Jakarta Tourism Area are mostly female, aged 16-23 years, come from outside DKI Jakarta, work as students, and earn less than Rp. 3,500,000. As for the results based on travel patterns of tourist characteristics, most of them have tourist destinations for vacation / recreation, visit as much as 2-5 times and for 1-3 hours, and use public transportation to reach the area. Furthermore, it identifies tourists' perceptions and preferences of the factors of tourism products found in Kota Tua Jakarta Tourism Area. Traveler perception is examined through the level of tourist interest in tourism product factors. From the factor of attraction, the results show that tourists are more interested in the factors of historic buildings and education, in terms of accessibility, tourists are more interested in the factors of accuracy and fluency, and on amenities, tourists are more interested in the toilet factor. While tourist preferences are examined through the level of tourist satisfaction with the factors of tourism products. The results show that in the attraction factor, the highest level of satisfaction of tourists is in the place of recreation, the accessibility factor, the highest level of satisfaction of tourists is in the factor of public transportation, and the amenity factor, the highest level of satisfaction of tourists is in the foodcourt factor.
