Whereas the Directorate General of Human Settlements Ministry of Public Works has sanitation target of 60-70% to achieve the MDGs and the criteria to qualify as Public Works Strategic Plan. Currently, the feasibility of basic sanitation in Indonesia is met by 51%. This study is focusing on the evaluation of the level of wastewater sanitation services with the target of achievement is decent and safe access to wastewater sanitation in the city of Bandung. The research was conducted in five areas, namely Bandung city slum areas such as Andir, Sumur Bandung, Rancasari, Cibeunying Kidul, and Bojongloa Kidul. The method used in this study is a questionnaire method with a total sample of 127 people. Parameters for proper sanitation access is derived from MDGs sanitation indicators. And parameters of access to safe sanitation wastewater obtained from the Minister of Public Works No.14/PRT/M/2010 on Minimum Service Standards Division of Public Works and Spatial Planning. The results show that the percentage of access to adequate sanitation that is met: the availability of swan neck toilets (assumed as flush toilet because of similarity characteristics: avoid puddles, smell, and the chance of the animals that enter) that connected to a septic tank or swan neck toilet that connected to sewage pipe amounted to 38.58%. This value is unmet the expected target of 2015 to achieve the MDGs target of 62.41%. Therefore, to meet the MDG target program, it’s needed an acceleration of the MDGs achievement by 2015. Then, the second parameter is the amount of access to safe sanitation wastewater facilities only by 7%, while the rest of 93% is unsafe. Proper safety access can be seen from sewage system which provide the on-site system treatment amounted 2.36% of the requirements of the septic tank connection or ownership that are well maintained. The safe septic tank must has 10 m distance from water source, and draining frequency must be once every 2-3 years. While for the safe access of water sanitation from central processing syste is 4,72%, which is seen from the toilets that are connected to sewage pipe. That’s mean, there is big potential of water contamination from unsafe sanitation.. The conclusion is access to a decent wastewater sanitation in slum areas in Bandung is not certainly safe for the environment. text
